The name of our organization is Charlotte Harbor Organization of Independent Child Educators (CHOICE). We are a voluntary association of individuals and families. This organization is a member of the Florida Parent Educators Association (FPEA). We are strong supporters of The Home Education Foundation (HEF). CHOICE neither mandates nor prohibits the free expression of educational and religious philosophies. Our Mission is to provide a forum whereby home educating parents of the Charlotte Harbor area can support and encourage one another. Our objectives are to -
¨ provide parent meetings which are held each month from September thru May ¨ provide parent enrichment and the exchange of ideas, as well as moral support and encouragement to home educators ¨ provide through our lending library, basic resources that may aid the educating family ¨ provide monthly field trips (September – April) and specific activities that create a social and educational environment for the home educating family ¨ utilize community resources and take advantage of group rates to events and places ¨ provide information about political issues, county and state requirements regarding the rights of home educators present to the community a positive example of home schooling ¨ respect differing opinions and philosophies, in order to encourage free and open exchange of ideas ¨ exist as an inclusive group, we do not discriminate among religion, race, ethnic, or any mental or physical handicaps.
